Due to this example being under weight we have conducted XRF analysis on the coins surfaces, obverse/reverse/edge as well as two other samples, a Tower half crown and an Oxford half crown. The tests have shown the composition of the Shrewsbury pound we offer for auction to be consistent with our test subjects, as well as published results: see, BNJ; 1991. The specific gravity has been measured at 10.14g, which again was consistent with measurements of a Tower halfcrown (10.14) and two Tower shillings (10.25 & 10.05).
